TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE MRS. DINAH BELL STONE OF RIDGEWAY FOR HER OUTSTANDING SERVICE IN FURTHERANCE OF HER FAITH AND FOR HER COMMITMENT TO HER FAMILY, CAREER, AND COMMUNITY, AS SHE CELEBRATES HER SEVENTY-FIFTH BIRTHDAY ON MAY 24, 2005.
Whereas, born in Ridgeway on May 24, 1930, Dinah Bell Stone is the eldest of twelve children born to Albert Bell, Sr., and Lallie Outen Bell; and
Whereas, serving the needs of the elderly, Mrs. Stone worked tirelessly at the Fairfield Nursing Home for twenty-nine years, where she began a ministry with patients and fostered a deep, loving friendship with them, and she continues to maintain the connection as a volunteer; and
Whereas, for fifty-nine years Mrs. Stone has enjoyed a loving marriage to Rev. James B. Stone, Sr., a union that has produced two children, James B. Stone, Jr., and Israel Stone, Sr.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and
Whereas, a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church, Mrs. Stone sang in the Jubilee Choir for forty-seven years and served as the church secretary for twenty-five years; and
Whereas, Mrs. Stone also is a member of the Fairfield County Baptist Church Missionary Convention, where she serves as vice president; and
Whereas, Mrs. Stone has given of herself wholeheartedly in every endeavor, acting as a model citizen in her community; and
Whereas, family and friends will gather in celebration of Mrs. Stone's seventy-fifth birthday on May 21, 2005, in Columbia, and it is with great pleasure and admiration that the members of the Senate recognize such an exceptional daughter of South Carolina as Dinah Bell Stone. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, honor and recognize Mrs. Dinah Bell Stone of Ridgeway, for her outstanding service in furtherance of her faith and for her commitment to her family, career, and community as she celebrates her seventy-fifth birthday on May 24, 2005.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Stone's sister, Carolyn Roach, 312 Torwood Drive, Columbia, South Carolina 29203.
