A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO OFFER THE WARMEST CONGRATULATIONS TO MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM HOWARD OSWALT OF BATESBURG ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR SIXTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND TO EXTEND TO THEM AND THEIR FAMILY EVERY GOOD WISH FOR SUCCESS, HEALTH, AND CONTINUED HAPPINESS IN THE YEARS TO COME.

Whereas, Howard and Barbara Oswalt, both lifelong residents of Batesburg, were united in holy matrimony on August 17, 1945, at the Lexington County Courthouse by Judge Boozer; and

Whereas, over the course of their happy marriage, they have raised five beautiful and loving children: William Barry Oswalt, Ricky Howard Oswalt, Craig Neal Oswalt, Vicky Lynn Kennedy, and Debra Kay Howell; and

Whereas, the Oswalts also are proud to boast four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and

Whereas, Howard enjoyed a successful career as an accomplished house mover and cattle farmer while Barbara lovingly supported the family by working at home and raising their five children; and

Whereas, active and faithful members of Mt. Ebal Church in Batesburg, they both are widely respected pillars of the Batesburg community and are well-known throughout Aiken County; and

Whereas, while enjoying the relaxation of retirement, they have a rich social and family life. They take pleasure in occasionally attending auctions, watching NASCAR racing, and sharing stories and memories with family and friends alike; and

Whereas, on August 17, 2005, Howard and Barbara Oswalt will celebrate the momentous occasion of their sixtieth wedding anniversary. This impressive milestone in their lives will mark sixty years of love, devotion, and mutual support that has made them the strong supportive couple they are to family, friends, and neighbors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, offer the warmest congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. William Howard Oswalt of Batesburg on the occasion of their Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary and extend to them and their family every good wish for success, health, and continued happiness in the years to come.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. and Mrs. William Howard Oswalt.
