A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 50-11-1925 SO AS TO REQUIRE PERSONS WHO PROCESS DEER MEAT ON A FEE FOR SERVICE BASIS WHO ARE NOT REGULATED BY A FEDERAL OR STATE AGENCY TO REGISTER WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL AND TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT TO PROMULGATE REGULATIONS CONCERNING THE DISPOSAL OF INEDIBLES, HIDES, AND WASTEWATER GENERATED DURING THE PROCESSING OF DEER MEAT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 8, Chapter 11, Title 50 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 50-11-1925.    (A)    A person who processes deer meat on a fee for service basis who is not regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture or the South Carolina Meat and Poultry Inspection Department of Clemson University shall register with the Department of Health and Environmental Control and shall comply with regulations promulgated by the department concerning the disposal of inedibles, hides, and wastewater generated during the processing of deer meat.

(B)    The Department of Health and Environmental Control shall promulgate regulations necessary to carry out the provisions of this section."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
