A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CELEBRATE THE DEDICATION OF THE GEORGE N. KENNER EDUCATIONAL BUILDING OF JERUSALEM BAPTIST CHURCH ON MAY 22, 2005, IN RIDGE SPRING, SALUDA COUNTY, AND TO WISH THE CONGREGANTS MANY HAPPY MEMORIES OF FELLOWSHIP AND WORSHIP THERE IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, Jerusalem Baptist Church in Saluda County has been home to many generations of faithful congregants seeking worship both as a body of believers and as individuals since its founding one hundred and twenty-one years ago; and

Whereas, remaining steadfast in their faith and commitment to the church, officials at Jerusalem Baptist Church fervently believed that they could acquire enough money to build an education center that could fully address the needs of the congregation; and

Whereas, with overwhelming amounts of prayer and hard work, they did attain those funds, earning ten thousand dollars through ad sales for the one hundred and twentieth anniversary program, and receiving an extraordinarily generous check of one hundred thousand dollars from Philadelphia pastor George Kenner, in whose name the building is dedicated; and

Whereas, the congregants consider the building a true gift from God, citing the many blessings that have been bestowed upon the church since its inception; and

Whereas, Jerusalem Baptist Church has been and will remain a home for the faithful, a place to come together to give thanks and praise for their many gifts and blessings. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, celebrate the dedication of the George N. Kenner Educational Building of Jerusalem Baptist Church on May 22, 2005, in Ridge Spring, Saluda County, and wish the congregants many happy memories of fellowship and worship there in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Reverend Sim E. Murray, pastor of Jerusalem Baptist Church, on behalf of the congregation.
