TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 54-3-280 SO AS TO REQUIRE APPROVAL BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY BEFORE THE STATE PORTS AUTHORITY TAKES ANY ACTION IN CONNECTION WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SHIPPING TERMINAL IN JASPER COUNTY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 3, Chapter 3, Title 54 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 54-3-280. Notwithstanding other authority to the contrary, the State Ports Authority shall obtain the approval of the General Assembly before it undertakes any action in connection with the construction of a shipping terminal in Jasper County including, but not limited to, the acquisition of real property."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
