A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR DR. CYNTHIA MCMILLAN FOR HER EXCEPTIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE LIVES OF THE MANY YOUNG PEOPLE SHE HAS TAUGHT DURING HER INCREDIBLE FORTY-YEAR TENURE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA SALKEHATCHIE AND TO WISH HER THE BEST IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS UPON HER RETIREMENT.

Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the House of Representatives recognize those citizens who give tirelessly of themselves in educating and encouraging South Carolina's youth; and

Whereas, Dr. Cynthia McMillan is certainly one such individual, as she has inspired countless numbers of students throughout her extensive career as an educator at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie for over forty years; and

Whereas, a dedicated educator, she has taught Business, Computer, and Office Administration courses at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie since the fall of 1966, and she is a full professor at the University; and

Whereas, Dr. McMillan holds a B.S. degree in Business Education from the University of South Carolina as well as an M.Ed. in Guidance from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill; and

Whereas, in addition to her teaching duties, Dr. McMillan served as chairman of the Professional Studies Division at the University of Salkehatchie for over thirty years, and she also has worked with the Student Services Office as a recruiter for her entire forty-year career at the campus; and

Whereas, this champion of higher education also recently enjoyed taking on the new challenge of teaching University 101 to new freshmen entering the college campus. Her loving guidance in this course no doubt set many new students on the right path towards future academic success to culminate in the achievement of their college degree; and

Whereas, all those who were fortunate enough to learn under the direction of Dr. Cynthia McMillan are certainly forever changed because of her influence, and the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to pause to thank her for her dedication and commitment to higher education in South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor Dr. Cynthia McMillan for her exceptional contributions to the lives of the many young people she has taught during her incredible forty-year tenure at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie and wish her the best in all her future endeavors upon her retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Cynthia McMillan.
