A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE, HONOR, AND COMMEND DR. NORMAN P. PEARSON, SR., PASTOR OF NEW PROSPECT MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH IN WILLIAMSTON, FOR HIS THIRTY-FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE TO HIS CHURCH AND COMMUNITY AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Dr. Norman P. Pearson, Sr., has epitomized dynamic and progressive leadership throughout his thirty-five years of service at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church; and

Whereas, Pastor Pearson's continued work has resulted in both physical and spiritual growth at New Prospect Missionary; and

Whereas, his work includes organizing the Youth Church and Inspirational Choir, increasing membership, forming pre-baptism and orientation classes, increasing participation in home and foreign missions, improving the church facilities, adding to the transportation ministry and activity house for senior citizens, forming a soup kitchen ministry, developing a liaison committee to foster better relationships between parents of the community and the local schools, and starting a tutorial program; and

Whereas, in addition to his pastoral involvement, Pastor Pearson has dedicated his time and abilities to improving education in his community through his service as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Morris College and Chairman of the Cooperative Ministries of the Martin Webb Learning Center of Greenville; and

Whereas, during his time as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Morris College endowment funding has increased, additional doctorate degree professors have been added, graduate enrollment has increased, and mission and education funds were increased; and

Whereas, Pastor Pearson also has been involved in a wide range of other projects including producing the New World Singers television program serving ninety countries, serving as field director for the Global Mission for the Progressive National Baptist Convention, and as acting as a soloist for the National Progressive Baptist Convention; and

Whereas, throughout the past thirty-five years, Dr. Norman P. Pearson, Sr., has led the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church with love and faith while giving of his abilities for the betterment of the surrounding community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize, honor, and commend Dr. Norman P. Pearson, Sr., Pastor of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Williamston, for his thirty-five years of service to his church and community and extend best wishes to him in all of his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Pearson.
