VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE JANA LEE SNAPP, OF SPARTANBURG, ON BEING CROWNED MISS SUN FUN 2008 AND WISH HER MUCH SUCCESS IN HER REIGN AND IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, Jana Lee Snapp, of Spartanburg, was crowned Miss Sun Fun 2008 at Myrtle Beach's Socastee High School on Friday, June 1, 2007; and
Whereas, the Miss Sun Fun Pageant, sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, is held annually during the Sun Fun Festival, which attracts locals and tourists alike and showcases, among other events, a parade, a jet-ski competition, a Guinness World Records "World's Tallest Sandcastle" competition, and other beach activities; and
Whereas, having both intelligence and beauty, Jana holds a four-year degree in nursing from the Mary Black School of Nursing at the University of South Carolina Upstate and currently works full-time as a registered nurse at Surgical Associates, a four-doctor office in the Spartanburg Regional Hospital System. Whenever possible, she volunteers her nursing skills at St. Luke's Free Medical Clinic; and
Whereas, while in college, she served as a senator representing the nursing program in the Student Government Association and as treasurer of the Student Nurses Association. Other collegiate memberships included Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, the University of South Carolina Upstate Honors Program, and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Jana also gave of her time to Meals on Wheels and other worthy causes and finished her academic career a cum laude graduate in the top ten of her nursing class; and
Whereas, through participating in beauty pageants, Jana has traveled to places in South Carolina she might not otherwise have visited, in the process developing a deeper appreciation of products and organizations that make the Palmetto State unique. She has had the privilege of reigning as Miss South Carolina Peach Queen
and Spartanburg County Farm Bureau Queen, only two of her many titles; and
Whereas, as Miss Sun Fun 2008, Jana will represent Myrtle Beach at events throughout South Carolina, the nation, and the world. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Jana Lee Snapp, of Spartanburg, on being crowned Miss Sun Fun 2008 and wish her much success in her reign and in all her future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Jana Snapp, Miss Sun Fun 2008.
