CONGRATULATING DR. CARL THOMPSON AND KATHLEEN THOMPSON FOR BEING NAMED SOUTH CAROLINA FOSTER FAMILY OF THE YEAR.
Whereas, Dr. Carl Thompson and Kathleen Thompson reside in Pickens County. Dr. Thompson is a retired Clemson University professor and researcher, and Kathleen Thompson is a full-time homemaker; and
Whereas, the Thompson's have four biological children, Carl, Jim, Eric, and Tricia, who are grown, successful adults; and
Whereas, with their biological childrens' support, the Thompsons have served as foster parents for the past twenty-six years and have fostered over one hundred thirty-six children. They have lovingly nurtured each infant, toddler, or child placed in their home, providing each with the necessary care for individual needs; and
Whereas, after being nominated by the Pickens County Department of Social Services, Dr. Carl Thompson and Kathleen Thompson were named South Carolina Foster Family of the Year on March 14, 2008, at the South Carolina Foster Parents Association Annual Training Conference banquet. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. Carl Thompson and Kathleen Thompson for being named South Carolina Foster Family of the Year.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Carl Thompson and Kathleen Thompson.
