A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE HONORABLE CATHERINE CRAWFORD CEIPS, OF BEAUFORT COUNTY, FOR HER FIVE YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, AND TO WISH HER SUCCESS IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS AS SHE DEPARTS THE SENATE.

Whereas, the Honorable Catherine Crawford Ceips has represented the citizens of Beaufort County and Senate District 46 in the General Assembly for five years and has served most recently on the Education, Judiciary, Rules, Transportation, and General Committees of the South Carolina Senate; and

Whereas, born in Berkeley County the daughter of Virginia Black Crawford and Sidney Crawford, she earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of South Carolina in 1976; and

Whereas, in 1986, she married the late Richard N. Ceips and served as a teacher in Beaufort and Berkeley County schools, as the owner of Sea Island Ophthalmology, and as the community service director of the Medical University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, before joining the South Carolina Legislature she was the field director for the late Congressman Floyd Spence and for Congressman Addison "Joe" Wilson; and

Whereas, she has further served her community through the Beaufort Historic Foundation, the Open Land Trust, and theatre groups such as Beaufort Little Theatre; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate will miss the passion and hard work that Catherine Crawford Ceips has brought to the Senate and wish her continued success in her private life as she leaves public service. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, commend the Honorable Catherine Crawford Ceips, of Beaufort County, for her five years of dedicated service as a member of the General Assembly, and wish her success in all her future endeavors as she departs the Senate.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Catherine Crawford Ceips.
