TO CONGRATULATE THE 2006 HILLCREST HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE CLASS AAAA VOLLEYBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, COMMEND THE PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF OF THE 2006 HILLCREST HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM FOR A SEASON OF SPIRITED COMPETITION, INSPIRING PERSEVERANCE, AND TREMENDOUS ACHIEVEMENT, AND TO WISH THEM EVERY SUCCESS IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the Hillcrest High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Team captured its first state title on November 6, 2006; and
Whereas, the ladies from Hillcrest High School met the ladies from West Ashley High School in the championship game of the state tournament, and with their family and friends cheering them on, the "Lady Rams" prevailed by scores of 25-22, 25-23, and 15-9, giving Hillcrest High School the Class AAAA State Championship; and
Whereas, the "Lady Rams" were led to win their first state championship by Head Coach Lynn Avant, Assistant Coaches Amanda Frist, Mark Goldfuss, and Tina Metcaff, and Managers Kaysha Richardson and Katie Stange; and
Whereas the 2006 Hillcrest High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Team is comprised of disciplined and exemplary student-athletes, including Jamie Lancaster, Lisa Jedlicka, Mary Beth Weir, Susannah White, Kelly Kirby, Ashley Marshall, Kristen Potts, Tina Shelley, Taylor Cobb, Laura Jeroszko, Kam Tumblin, Gabby Dierickx, and Caroline Timanus; and
Whereas, senior Lisa Jedlicka earned All-Region, All-State, and All-Star honors; senior Susannah White earned All-Region and All-Star honors; junior Kelly Kirby earned All-Region and All-State honors; and senior Mary Beth Weir and junior Ashley Marshall won All-Region honors; and
Whereas, Head Coach Lynn Avant has amassed a 257-17 record during her ten years at Hillcrest and was named 2006 Coach of the Year for Region II of Class AAAA schools; and
Whereas, the players, coaches, and staff of the 2006 Hillcrest High School Varsity Girls Volleyball team committed themselves to a season of excellence to win the team's first state championship. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the 2006 Hillcrest High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Team on winning the Class AAAA Volleyball State Championship, commend the players, coaches, and staff of the 2006 Hillcrest High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Team for a season of spirited competition and tremendous achievement, and wish them every success in their future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Head Coach Lynn Avant, the 2006 Hillcrest High School Volleyball Team, and the team's assistant coaches and managers.
