VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR SHIRLEY A. DAVIS OF FAIRFIELD COUNTY FOR HER OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT TO HER FAMILY, FAITH, AND COMMUNITY AND TO WISH HER ALL THE BEST IN THE COMING YEARS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly laud Winnsboro native Shirley A. Davis, matriarch and First Lady of Little Zion Baptist Church, as being a woman of character, a woman of faith, and a woman of God; and
Whereas, Mrs. Davis shares a loving marriage with the Reverend E.W. Davis, Pastor of Little Zion Baptist Church. Together, they are blessed with three devoted children, Pastor Eric W. Davis, Kimberly Brunson, and Trenton M. Davis; and
Whereas, a happy grandmother, Mrs. Davis enjoys her adorable grandchildren, Ezra, Elias, Kimbreia, and Jalen, who are the apples of her eye; and
Whereas, greatly impacting the greater Winnsboro community in leading by example, Mrs. Davis lives to serve those in need. She is a founder of Beyond the Door, a nonprofit agency designed to provide assistance to the infirmed using a holistic approach to medicine, and also serves on numerous public service boards; and
Whereas, her love and concern for the well-being of children motivated her to run for Richland School District One School Board, on which she served for eight years and was a driving force for legislation that secured needed funding for the school district; and
Whereas, taking great satisfaction in her life and role as a pastor's wife, Mrs. Davis is a founding member of the Little Zion Women's Christian Organization, the organizer of The Samaritan Way, and serves on the Board of the Little Zion Academy and Daycare; and
Whereas, setting an outstanding example of what it means to be a Christian woman, Mrs. Davis' unwavering faith in God and her ability to triumph victoriously over adversity inspires all those who know her to live their own lives in pursuit of higher aspirations; and
Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the General Assembly pause to commend Mrs. Davis for her exceptional contributions to the Winnsboro community and to South Carolina as a whole. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina recognize and honor Shirley A. Davis of Fairfield County for her outstanding commitment to her family, faith, and community and wish her all the best in the coming years.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Shirley A. Davis.
