A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE DORMAN HIGH SCHOOL BOYS SWIM TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2006 CLASS AAAA BOYS 200 FREE RELAY EVENT IN THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION, AND FOR SETTING A NEW STATE RECORD FOR THE EVENT.

Whereas, the Fighting Cavaliers of Dorman High School defeated all comers on October 7, 2006, at the Rock Hill Young Men's Christian Association, to win the 2006 Class AAAA Boys 200 Free Relay event in the State Championship competition; and

Whereas, Head Coach Amy Thompson and Assistant Coach John Sewell, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their swim program into a championship team; and

Whereas, with this well-earned victory, which capped a 5-2 season and set a new school record, the Fighting Cavaliers also set a new state record for the Class AAAA Boys 200 Free Relay event; and

Whereas, the team members are Corey Rogers, James Weber, Marcus Elliott, and John Connell; and

Whereas, these team members and the coaches of Dorman High School deserve tribute for their championship event win, a first for the school; and

Whereas, the Fighting Cavaliers have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Dorman High School boys swim team for winning the 2006 Class AAAA Boys 200 Free Relay event in the State Championship competition, and for setting a new state record for the event.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dorman High School.
