Whereas, the James F. Byrnes High School marching band captured the 2006 South Carolina AAAA State Marching Band Championship; and

Whereas, this 2006 championship marks the tenth such win for the James F. Byrnes Rebel Regiment, a worthy addition to its lengthy roster of accomplishments, such as grabbing sixty-four Grand Championships; marching in three Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades, two Presidential Inaugural Parades, and the 2000 Tournament of Roses Parade; and earning the prestigious Sudler Shield, an international award recognizing high school band programs of the very highest quality and presented by the John Philip Sousa Foundation of America; and

Whereas, the achievements of the Byrnes marching band this year show that Head Band Director C. Phillip McIntyre and his assistant directors, Chris Moss, Matthew Wofford, Craig Davis, Jessica Davis, Dan Sears, and Clark Murff, are among the finest band directors in South Carolina; and
