A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE MAULDIN HIGH SCHOOL "LADY MAVERICKS" SWIM TEAM ON ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2006 CLASS AAAA STATE GIRLS SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE SWIMMERS, HEAD COACH PATRICIA GETTYS, AND ASSISTANT COACH JOHN HENICKMAN ON AN EXCEPTIONAL SEASON.

Whereas, the Mauldin High School Lady Mavericks swim team concluded its outstanding season by capturing the 2006 Class AAAA State Girls Swimming Championship title; and

Whereas, excellence in swimming demands individual strength, agility, and skill, as well as team play and good sportsmanship; and

Whereas, using these talents and attributes, Coach Patricia Gettys, Assistant Coach John Henickman, and their swimmers showed both fans and foes alike that the Lady Mavericks' winning of this year's state title was no accident, but rather the payoff for concentrated, consistent hard work and capitalizing on strong abilities; and

Whereas, the twenty-one young women of the Mauldin High School girls swim team showed great poise and grace, always remaining sportsmanlike and representing their school and surrounding community admirably; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives take great pleasure in recognizing the young women of the Mauldin High School girls swim team for their determination and perseverance in achieving both in the classroom and in swim competition and expect to hear of great accomplishments in the seasons to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Mauldin High School "Lady Mavericks" swim team on its impressive win of the 2006 Class AAAA State Girls Swimming Championship title, and honor the swimmers, Head Coach Patricia Gettys, and Assistant Coach John Henickman on an exceptional season.
