A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE FORT MILL HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND CAPTURING THE 2007 CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACH, AND STAFF.

Whereas, the Yellow Jackets of Fort Mill High School defeated Summerville 53-41 to win the schools first state basketball championship since 1974; and

Whereas, standouts Chalmers Rogers, Paress Barker, and Will Johnson played outstanding offense and defense to achieve the championship title; and

Whereas, Coach Bailey Jackson directed his team by demanding only the highest level of preparation with tough practices and hard work to achieve this championship level; and

Whereas, this crowning victory has culminated with this final win to achieve the pinnacle in boys AAAA basketball in this State; and

Whereas, this Fort Mill team has brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the House of Representatives are honored to have this opportunity to recognize such an outstanding group of young men. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives wish to recognize and commend the Fort Mill High School varsity boys basketball team for its outstanding season and capturing the 2007 Class AAAA State Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coach, and staff.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the principal of Fort Mill High School, Dee Christopher, and Coach Bailey Jackson.
