A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND ANDREW JACKSON HIGH SCHOOL LADY VOLS SOFTBALL TEAM, OF KERSHAW, ON ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2007 CLASS AA STATE GIRLS SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACH, AND STAFF.

Whereas, well prepared for the challenge, the Andrew Jackson High School Lady Vols softball team crowned its superlative season by capturing the 2007 Class AA State Girls Softball Championship title, defeating Chapman 3-0 and 4-1 on Thursday, May 10, 2007; and

Whereas, championship play in softball demands individual strength, agility, and skill, as well as team play and good sportsmanship; and

Whereas, using these talents and attributes, Coach Steve Middleton and the players showed fans and foes alike that the Lady Vols' winning of this victory was no lucky accident; and

Whereas, these tenacious athletes, demonstrating both poise and class, made it their second consecutive state championship, ninth straight region championship, and seventh consecutive district championship; and

Whereas, to add to the luster of a great 34-3 season, prior to their state championship win the team grabbed third place in the Azalea Tournament, the nation's premier spring-break tournament, held in Summerville; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing the young women of the Andrew Jackson High School girls softball team for leading with excellence both in the classroom and on the softball field and expects to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend Andrew Jackson High School Lady Vols softball team, of Kershaw, on its outstanding season and impressive win of the 2007 Class AA State Girls Softball Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coach, and staff.
