TO CONGRATULATE ROBERT BRANDON LEWIS, OF MULLINS, FOR ACHIEVING THE ELITE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT, COMMEND HIM FOR HIS HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION IN REACHING THIS GOAL, AND WISH HIM EVERY SUCCESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, it is with great pride that the South Carolina House of Representatives recognizes the laudable achievements of young people, and among those youthful accomplishments that command the greatest respect is the attaining of the rank of Eagle Scout; and
Whereas, having proved himself worthy, Robert Brandon Lewis, in a ceremony to take place in the fall of 2007, will be named an Eagle Scout, an award granted to only about five percent of all Boy Scouts; and
Whereas, Robert, the son of Ricky Barth Lewis and Tammy Owens Lewis, of Mullins, was born July 16, 1989, and has been a member of Boy Scout Troop 748 since 1996; and
Whereas, this active young man attends First Baptist Church in Mullins and is a senior at Pee Dee Academy, where he has been a member of the varsity football, basketball, and baseball teams, as well as the biology club. He also has been a camp counselor for Wildlife Action, Inc., in Mullins; and
Whereas, in recognition of his contributions to his school, he has been the recipient of the Varsity Football Eagle Award, the Varsity Basketball Eagle Award, and the Varsity Baseball Coaches Award; and
Whereas, he plans to attend Coastal Carolina University in the fall of 2007; and
Whereas, for his Eagle Scout service project, Robert built a picnic area at the Pee Dee Academy football field, adding picnic tables and umbrellas; and
Whereas, the award of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in scouting, is a performance-based achievement whose high standards have been staunchly maintained since its inception in 1912. In attaining this coveted award, Robert joins the ranks of astronauts, movie and sports celebrities, Nobel Prize winners, business and military leaders, Senators and Congressmen, and other elected officials and may be justly proud of his accomplishment. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Robert Brandon Lewis, of Mullins, for achieving the elite rank of Eagle Scout, commend him for his hard work and determination in reaching this goal, and wish him every success in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Robert Brandon Lewis.
