VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE J.L. MANN HIGH SCHOOL LADY PATRIOTS TRACK TEAM, OF GREENVILLE COUNTY, ON ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2007 CLASS AAA STATE GIRLS TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, on May 5, 2007, the J.L. Mann High School girls track team showed their top-flight mettle by capturing the 2007 Class AAA State Girls Track Championship title, outdistancing Daniel High School, the Lady Patriots nearest competitor, 165-91 at Columbia's Spring Valley High School track field; and
Whereas, Coach Rhett Moss and assistant coaches Joseph Dion, Fabian Davis, and Vernon Adams, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their girls track program into a championship team; and
Whereas, no strangers to the taste of victory, the young women of the J.L. Mann High School Lady Patriots track team merit tribute for their incredible championship win, the latest in a three-year dominating streak of girls track championships nailed down by the team; and
Whereas, in amassing one hundred sixty-five points in the title meet, the team tied the record for the most points ever scored in a Triple A state championship event; and
Whereas, this year's title also marked the fourth in six years for the Lady Patriots, who are "quickly becoming the gold standard for girls prep track in the State," a well-deserved compliment published by the Greenville News in its May 6 edition; and
Whereas, the members of the J.L. Mann High School Lady Patriots track team have brought great pride and recognition to their school, community, and State, and the South Carolina House of Representatives, expecting great achievements in the future from these talented athletes, is pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young women. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend the J.L. Mann High School Lady Patriots track team, of Greenville County, on its impressive win of the 2007 Class AAA State Girls Track Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the J.L. Mann High School Lady Patriots track team and Coach Rhett Moss.
