A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CELEBRATE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF REVEREND TERRY A. KING, PASTOR OF ROCK OF AGES BAPTIST CHURCH IN GREENVILLE COUNTY.

Whereas, Reverend Terry A. King was licensed to preach the gospel by Reverend C.L. Jones, pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina, in 1988 and was ordained by the Reedy River Association in 1990 after he accepted his call to the ministry; and

Whereas, for seventeen years, he has been pastor of Rock of Ages Baptist Church, where he is a spiritual father and encourager to over a thousand members. Reverend King has organized over thirty ministries to service the spiritual, mental, and physical needs of people. His God-given vision for a new edifice was made a reality in July of 2002, and he also was the visionary for the transitional housing availability for former inmates at Rock of Ages Baptist Church in 2004; and

Whereas, because of Reverend King's love for people and his obedience to God's instruction, Rock of Ages Baptist Church is the first African-American ministry in the Greenville area to partner with a Hispanic ministry. This divine alliance has made a mark in history and will impact neighboring ministries throughout the country, encouraging others to spread the love of Christ through the breaking down of racial barriers; and

Whereas, Reverend King currently serves as president of the Baptist Ministers' Fellowship of Greenville and Vicinity. During his time in office, he has worked diligently with elected officials for the betterment of Greenville County and is noted for his involvement in the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research. Reverend King's promotion of unity through prayer vigils, services, and fund-raising events has produced an exceptionally uplifting effect on the community; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the House of Representatives to pause in its deliberations to recognize, honor, and celebrate the life of Reverend Terry A. King, president of the Baptist Ministers' Fellowship of Greenville and Vicinity from June 2005 through June 2007. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of Reverend Terry A. King, pastor of Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Greenville County.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Reverend King.
