A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE LIFE OF SARA SHARPE, ONE OF ANDERSON'S CHERISHED CITIZENS, UPON THE OCCASION OF HER NINETIETH BIRTHDAY, AND TO WISH HER MANY MORE YEARS OF PROSPERITY AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Mrs. Sara Sharpe will celebrate her ninetieth birthday on February 10, 2008; and

Whereas, there exist in life few joys more satisfying than that of living a long life marked by effective and valuable service to one's family, church, and community; and

Whereas, born on February 10, 1918, Sara Norris entered this life in the Shady Grove community near Belton, the daughter of the late Henry F. Norris and Naomi Warnock Norris; and

Whereas, on March 1, 1936, Sara Norris and her beloved husband, Floyd Sharpe, were married in Greenwood, and they raised two fine children, who have given them three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and

Whereas, even though she and her husband enjoyed a successful radio and television repair business, Sara desired to serve her community further, and beginning with the Anderson Free Press, she entered into a newspaper career, spanning over fifty years of service, which she continues to this day; and

Whereas, since her birth on February 10, 1918, in the second decade of the twentieth century, Sara Sharpe has witnessed many of the incredible changes and developments throughout that century and now the beginning of the twenty-first century; and

Whereas, those who know and love Sara Sharpe have planned a celebration at her home in honor of her ninety years of life, service, and friendship to be held on February 10, 2008, and hosted by her family and colleagues; and

Whereas, the family, friends, and co-workers of Sara Sharpe acknowledge and admire her life of energetic dedication and meaningful contribution to those around her. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the life of Sara Sharpe, one of Anderson's cherished citizens, upon the occasion of her ninetieth birthday, and wish her many more years of prosperity and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Sara Sharpe.
