A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE W. WYMAN KING ACADEMY SPORTING CLAYS TEAM, OF SALUDA COUNTY, AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM MEMBERS AND THEIR COACHES FOR AN UNDEFEATED SEASON AND FOR TAKING THE 2007 STATE TOURNAMENT TITLE.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives take great pride in noting the accomplishments of the successful thirteen-member King Academy Knights sporting clays team; and

Whereas, after winning all five of their regular season shooting competitions, the sporting clays team of the King Academy Knights took the first, second, and third places in their division on May 12, 2007, in Camden in their first year of competition; and

Whereas, the first place Knight team of King Academy included shooters Jason Long, Will Schumpert, and Martin Crouch; and

Whereas, the second and third place team members were Tyler Rogers, Jasen Cumbee, and Nick Long and Lee Shorter, Austin Rodgers, and Jason Cromer, respectively; and

Whereas, shooter Austin Rodgers, son of Janet Lynn and Michael Rodgers, received the state sportsmanship award given in recognition of his grades and sportsmanship behavior; and

Whereas, in July, the first and third place Knight teams traveled to San Antonio, Texas, to compete in the national contest and finished eighth and thirteenth, respectively; and

Whereas, in a sport that requires concentration, sportsmanship, and precision, the coaches of King Academy have employed their expertise and experience to forge a championship team in its inaugural season; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to note the success of these fine shooters. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the W. Wyman King Academy sporting clays team, of Saluda County, and congratulate the team members and their coaches for an undefeated season and for taking the 2007 State Tournament title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Headmaster Dennis Gibson and Coach Watson Dorn.
