A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND HONOR THE REVEREND O.T. HILL UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY AS PASTOR OF BEAVERDAM BAPTIST CHURCH OF ENOREE IN LAURENS COUNTY.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were pleased to learn that Reverend O.T. Hill has reached his twenty-fifth anniversary as pastor of Beaverdam Baptist Church of Enoree in Laurens County; and

Whereas, the celebration of a pastor's twenty-five years of continuous and faithful service to his flock is a milestone worthy of note; and

Whereas, Reverend Hill's commitment and dedication to his church over the past twenty-five years is to be revered and serves as an inspiration to both congregation and fellow pastors; and

Whereas, adding to his joy in pastoral service, he and his beloved wife, Elaine McBride Hill, have raised a fine family of two children, O.T. Hill III and Shonda Hill; and

Whereas, a Greenville native and son of Mrs. Katherine Brown Hill Watson and the late Mr. Ottaway T. Hill, Reverend Hill earned a bachelor's degree from Morris College in Sumter and a master's degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, in preparation for ministry; and

Whereas, among other accomplishments during the twenty-five years of his ministry, this visionary pastor spearheaded the building of a new sanctuary and educational facility and retired a twenty-year debt in only eight years, as well as expanding the church's offerings to include bus and singles ministries, enhanced youth activities, and training institutes, also actively engaging the church in supporting numerous organizations such as the NAACP, Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation, Helping Hands Organization, Prison Ministries, and Morris College; and

Whereas, not one to forget his civic duty, Reverend Hill serves as a member of the Greenville Technical College Board of Trustees and as a committee chairman for the United Negro College Fund, in addition to serving in such ministerial positions as instructor in the Division of Religion and Humanities at Morris College; and

Whereas, in recognition of his service, he has received the Supreme Service Award from the Phyllis Wheatley Association and the Urban League of the Upstate, the Community Service Award from the Black Elected Officials, and the Outstanding Leadership Award from the Baptist Ministers Fellowship of Greenville; and

Whereas, there is no greater commendation a congregation can render its pastor than to echo the Lord's "Well done, good and faithful servant," and the members of the South Carolina Senate join with the members of Beaverdam Baptist Church in according this tribute to the church's long-time shepherd. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate and honor the Reverend O.T. Hill upon the occasion of his twenty-fifth anniversary as pastor of Beaverdam Baptist Church of Enoree in Laurens County.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Reverend O.T. Hill.
