A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF, AND ADMINISTRATION OF RIVERSIDE MIDDLE SCHOOL, IN ANDERSON SCHOOL DISTRICT 4, ON RECEIVING A 2008 CAROLINA FIRST PALMETTO'S FINEST AWARD.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives note with pleasure that on March 3, 2008, Riverside Middle School, of Anderson School District 4, received a 2008 Carolina First Palmetto's Finest award; and

Whereas, sponsored by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators and several partner businesses, this prestigious awards program annually honors two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school that maintain innovative, effective educational programs; and

Whereas, looking beyond academics to such things as what students do for their community, judges consider a school's instructional program, school culture, student achievement, and quality of faculty and staff; and

Whereas, no stranger to high academic honor, Riverside Middle School is also a 2006 National Blue Ribbon winner, as well as a Palmetto Silver award recipient for 2006 and 2007; and

Whereas, this Pendleton school of almost four hundred fifty students stands above the rest not only because of its academic achievement but also because of the school's community involvement and its students' great attitude; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is proud to affirm Riverside Middle School's place as an exemplar of all that is good and positive in public education in South Carolina, and the members of the House join Riverside's many friends in congratulating the school on this, its latest achievement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the students, faculty, staff, and administration of Riverside Middle School, in Anderson School District 4, on receiving a 2008 Carolina First Palmetto's Finest award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the principal of Riverside Middle School, Dr. Kevin Black.
