VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE WESTGATE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL CHEERLEADING TEAM, OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY, ON WINNING THE 2008 SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS CLASS A STATE CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO COMMEND THE TEAM AND COACH DORCAS HOYT FOR THEIR STRONG SUPPORT OF WESTGATE'S OTHER ATHLETIC TEAMS.
Whereas, no stranger to the taste of victory, the Westgate Christian School cheerleading team capped an exciting season by capturing the 2008 South Carolina Association of Christian Schools Class A State Cheerleading Championship title, defeating Victory Christian at Greenville's Hampton Park Christian School on Saturday, February 16, 2008; and
Whereas, taking full advantage of the team's talents, Coach Dorcas Hoyt and her cheerleaders proved that Westgate Christian's present and four previous state-championship victories were the result of perseverance and hard work, not mere luck; and
Whereas, the eight young women of the Westgate Christian School cheerleading team showed great poise, energy, and grace on the mat, always remaining sportsmanlike and representing their school and surrounding community admirably; and
Whereas, not only do the Westgate Eagle cheerleaders command the field as state champions in their own competitions, but also they demonstrate dedication in their strong support of the school's other athletic teams as these fellow athletes strive for victory. Led by their captain, junior Tabitha Hoyt, who creates most of the team's choreography, the Westgate cheerleaders energize and entertain their viewers at school sports events; and
Whereas, other valuable members of the team include Holly Corbett, Jessica Balentine, Hope Belue, Meghan Johnson, Jatoriya Benson, Aubrey Eilders, and Yvonne Tanbonliong; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing the young women of the Westgate Christian School cheerleading team for leading with excellence both in the classroom and on the mat and expects to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Westgate Christian School cheerleading team, of Spartanburg County, on winning the 2008 South Carolina Association of Christian Schools Class A State Cheerleading Championship title, and commend the team and Coach Dorcas Hoyt for their strong support of Westgate's other athletic teams.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Westgate's Principal Tony Seiber and Coach Dorcas Hoyt.
