VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO COMMEND THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF SOUTH CAROLINA FOR THEIR WONDERFUL EFFORTS IN HELPING SOUTH CAROLINA'S YOUTH PREPARE FOR A PRODUCTIVE LIFE AND TO RECOGNIZE THE SIXTEEN BOYS AND GIRLS FROM DIFFERENT BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS THROUGHOUT THE STATE WHO HAVE BEEN NAMED "2008 YOUTH OF THE YEAR" BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA ALLIANCE OF BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS.
Whereas, in every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them; and
Whereas, Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging, and influence; and
Whereas, Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow while having fun. They are truly the "Positive Place for Kids"; and
Whereas, over sixty-one thousand of South Carolina's young people received educational support from local Boys & Girls Clubs in their communities according to the most recent data; and
Whereas, there are currently eighty-two Boys & Girls Club sites in South Carolina; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to learn that sixteen young boys and girls from different Boys & Girls Clubs throughout South Carolina have been named 2008 Youth of the Year. They and their club are:

Whereas, South Carolina's Boys & Girls Clubs are a great investment in the youth of our State and the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, are pleased to recognize and honor each of these sixteen outstanding young people upon their receipt of a 2008 Youth of the Year award. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly commend the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Carolina for their wonderful efforts in helping South Carolina's youth prepare for a productive life and recognize the sixteen boys and girls from different Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the State who have been named "2008 Youth of the Year" by the South Carolina Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to each of these sixteen youths in care of their home clubs.
