A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE CHAPMAN HIGH SCHOOL "LADY PANTHERS" SOFTBALL TEAM, OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY, ON ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2008 CLASS AA REGION II CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, delivering an unforgettable first-inning scoring parade, the Chapman High School "Lady Panthers" softball team crowned its superlative season by capturing the 2008 Class AA Region II Championship title, defeating Broome 8-2 on Monday, April 21, 2008; and

Whereas, under the able direction of Coach Rebecca Pack and her assistant coach, April Seymour, the Lady Panthers pounded out seven hits in their first at-bat and scored all of their eight runs in an exciting game that gained six of twelve Chapman players RBIs; and

Whereas, this win gave Chapman its fourth consecutive region championship and once again demonstrated the Lady Panthers' top-drawer strength, agility, and skill, as well as finely honed team effort and good sportsmanship; and

Whereas, using these talents and attributes, the team showed fans and foes alike that the Lady Panthers' winning of this victory was not happenstance; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing the young women of the Chapman High School girls softball team for leading with excellence both in the classroom and on the softball field and expects to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate the Chapman High School "Lady Panthers" softball team, of Spartanburg County, on its outstanding season and impressive win of the 2008 Class AA Region II Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Principal Ronald W. Garner and Coach Rebecca Pack, of Chapman High School.
