A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE HONORABLE F. P. SEGARS-ANDREWS FOR HER OUTSTANDING TEN YEARS OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE TO THE CHARLESTON COUNTY DRUG COURT AND TO HONOR HER FOR THE EXCEPTIONAL DIFFERENCE SHE HAS MADE IN CHARLESTON COUNTY.

Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives pause to praise Judge F. P. Segars-Andrews for her countless contributions to Charleston communities; and

Whereas, after earning a bachelor's degree in 1981 from the University of South Carolina, Judge Segars-Andrews went on to receive a juris doctorate from her alma mater in 1984 and thereafter moved to Charleston to begin her law career; and

Whereas, recognized for her unique gifts and compassionate, yet firm heart, Judge Segars-Andrews was elected by the South Carolina General Assembly to the Family Court Bench in 1993; and

Whereas, in 1997, she partnered with the Charleston Center for Drug and Alcohol Treatment to create the first juvenile drug court in South Carolina; and

Whereas, presiding over that court since its inception, Judge Segars-Andrews has run an efficient court and alleviated the docket of other courts at a substantial savings to the State, all while continuing her service as an excellent family court judge; and

Whereas, Charleston County is better because of her influence and tremendous dedication to the families that come before her court, and the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for her service to her community and this great State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Honorable F. P. Segars-Andrews for her outstanding ten years of volunteer service to the Charleston County Drug Court and honor her for the exceptional difference she has made in Charleston County.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Judge F. P. Segars-Andrews.
