A BILL

TO AMEND CHAPTER 4, TITLE 30 OF THE 1976 CODE, RELATING TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT, BY ADDING SECTION 30-4-170, TO PROVIDE THAT SUBJECT TO APPROPRIATIONS, EACH MEETING OF A PUBLIC BODY, EXCEPT A PUBLIC BODY OF A POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE, SHALL ATTEMPT TO BROADCAST EACH MEETING OR PORTION OF THE MEETING THAT IS REQUIRED TO BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ON THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THE BODY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 4, Title 30 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 30-4-170.    Subject to appropriations by the General Assembly, each meeting of a public body, except a public body of a political subdivision of this State, shall attempt to broadcast each meeting or portion of the meeting that is required to be open to the public pursuant to Section 30-4-60 on the official website of the body. This requirements of this section also apply to cabinet meetings."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
