TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-5-6532 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES SHALL ISSUE A DECAL TO THE OWNER OF A MOTOR VEHICLE WHO IS EXEMPT FROM WEARING A SAFETY BELT, AND TO PROVIDE THAT THE DECAL MUST BE AFFIXED TO THE VEHICLE'S LICENSE PLATE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 45, Chapter 5, Title 56 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 56-5-6532. The Department of Motor Vehicles shall issue to the owner of a motor vehicle who is exempt from wearing a safety belt pursuant to Section 56-5-6530 a decal that contains a distinguishing symbol that verifies that the vehicle's owner is not required to wear a safety belt. The decal must be affixed to the vehicle's license plate."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
