A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE HAMMOND SCHOOL VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING UNDEFEATED SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE SCISA CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.

Whereas, the Skyhawks of Hammond School defeated Augusta Christian 28-17 on Friday, November 17, 2006, at Orangeburg's South Carolina State University Football Stadium, to capture the SCISA Class AAA State Championship title; and

Whereas, Coach Erik Kimrey and assistant coaches Hart Turner, Chris Elliott, and Adam Holmes, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their football program into a championship team; and

Whereas, this crowning victory caps an excellent season for the Skyhawks, with thirteen wins and no losses; and

Whereas, no strangers to the taste of victory, these players and the coaches of Hammond School deserve tribute for their incredible season and championship win; and

Whereas, the Skyhawks have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Hammond School varsity football team for its outstanding undefeated season and for capturing the SCISA Class AAA State Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coaches, and staff.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the principal of Hammond School and Coach Erik Kimrey.
