TO AMEND SECTION 9-1-10, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO DEFINITIONS FOR PURPOSES OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA RETIREMENT SYSTEM, SO AS TO ADD A PRINCIPAL, SUPERINTENDENT, OR SUPERVISOR OF CLASSROOM TEACHERS IN THE DEFINITION OF "EDUCATIONAL SERVICE" AS PERSONS WHO MAY PURCHASE EDUCATIONAL SERVICE IN THE SOUTH CAROLINA RETIREMENT SYSTEM.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 9-1-10(10) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by act 387 of 2000, is further amended to read:
"(10) 'Education service' means paid service as a classroom teacher, principal, superintendent, or supervisor of classroom teachers in a public, private, or sectarian school providing elementary or secondary education, kindergarten through grade twelve."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
