February 28, 2007
H. 3596
Introduced by Reps. Talley, W.D. Smith, Davenport, F.N. Smith, Duncan, Leach, Bedingfield, Cato, Walker, Taylor, E.H. Pitts, Harrison, Anthony, Bannister, Haskins, Kelly, Littlejohn, Loftis, Mahaffey, Pinson, Shoopman and G.R. Smith
S. Printed 2/28/07--H.
Read the first time February 28, 2007.
To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (H. 3596) to recognize the selflessness and bravery of the United States Armed Forces and to urge the South Carolina General Assembly and all South Carolinians to support our troops, etc., respectfully
That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass:
ROBERT W. LEACH, SR. for Committee.
TO RECOGNIZE THE SELFLESSNESS AND BRAVERY OF THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES AND TO URGE THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND ALL SOUTH CAROLINIANS TO SUPPORT OUR TROOPS AND OUR NATION'S LEADERSHIP IN THE WAR ON TERROR.
Whereas, it is with great honor and respect that the South Carolina General Assembly pauses to recognize the immeasurable sacrifices that thousands of South Carolina's bravest citizens make every day to defend our freedom; and
Whereas, in a time when millions of our family members, friends, and neighbors risk their lives to protect those already in harm's way, it is imperative that this State and the nation support those who make decisions and those who execute them; and
Whereas, South Carolina and its citizens are leaders in this conflict as evidenced by the largest deployment of National Guardsmen in the State's history; and
Whereas, included among the deployed guardsmen are the esteemed Representative James Smith and Brian Pinson, son of South Carolina Representative Gene Pinson; and
Whereas, support of our troops necessitates support of our nation's leadership and requires a trust that President George W. Bush and his Cabinet are contemplating difficult decisions with great care in requesting a troop surge to protect those serving and to complete this mission. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize the selflessness and bravery of the United States Armed Forces and to urge the South Carolina General Assembly and all South Carolinians to support our troops and our nation's leadership in the War on Terror.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the members of the South Carolina Congressional Delegation.
