RECOGNIZING LEXINGTON COUNTY'S MCKENNA HUGHES ON HER SUCCESSES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA, POSTING THE SCHOOL'S RECORD FOR HOME RUNS IN HER FOUR-YEAR SOFTBALL CAREER AS WELL AS A 3.7 GPA TO FINISH HER UNDERGRADUATE EFFORTS AS AN ACCOUNTING MAJOR.
Whereas, Lexington County's McKenna Hughes consistently slugged home runs for The University of South Carolina Womens softball team, breaking the school's all-time record for homers in her four-year career; and
Whereas, she also consistently finished at the top of the heap in the Moore School of Business accounting program, completing her undergraduate efforts with an impressive 3.7 grade point average; and
Whereas, as a result of her dual successes, she is the recently announced recipient of a post-graduate scholarship, the fruits of being named a finalist among other student athletes in the Southeastern Conference; and
Whereas, the star athlete and honor roll student also is active in community service including her participation at the Harvest Hope Food Bank, after-school reading program at Lake Murray Elementary School, and Homeworks, a home repair program; and
Whereas, we are proud to recognize the student athletes that bring honor to this State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize Lexington County's McKenna Hughes on her successes at The University of South Carolina, posting the school's record for career home runs in her four-year softball career as well as a 3.7 GPA to finish her undergraduate efforts as an accounting major.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to McKenna Hughes.
