TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE J.L. MANN HIGH SCHOOL BOYS CROSS-COUNTRY TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2007 CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE RUNNERS AND COACHES FOR A SUCCESSFUL SEASON THAT ENDED WITH A STATE VICTORY.
Whereas, the J.L. Mann High School Patriot boys cross-country team competed in the state finals meet on November 3, 2007, in Columbia and, for the first time in the history of the school, took the state title; and
Whereas, Coach Joseph Dion, through relentless work, harnessed the strength and endurance of these young athletes into a state championship team; and
Whereas, the seven man Patriot team with two alternates captured four positions on the fifteen-man all-state team, including Matt Scanlon, Steve Zielinski, Daniel Myles, and Parks Edwards, while Brent Vogel, Josh Shaw, and Sean Harding completed the team of runners that competed; Colin Harding and Brooks Morrison served as alternates; and
Whereas, through months of long, arduous practices and demanding effort, the cross-country runners of J.L. Mann High School brought pride and recognition to their school and community when they won the state championship in November; and
Whereas, the Patriots that comprise the J.L. Mann High School cross-country team have proven to be champions in the classroom and on the field; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives take great pleasure in recognizing the runners of the J.L. Mann High School boys cross-country team for their success in capturing the state championship title and expect to hear of great accomplishments in the seasons to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate the J.L. Mann High School boys cross-country team for winning the 2007 Class AAA State Championship title, and honor the runners and coaches for a successful season that ended with a state victory.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Susan Hughes and Coach Joseph Dion.
