A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 61-4-360 SO AS TO ALLOW LIMITED ON-PREMISES AND OFF-PREMISES TASTINGS, AND TO PROVIDE REGULATIONS ON THE SALE, PURCHASE, AND TRANSPORT OF BEER BY PRODUCERS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 3, Chapter 4, Title 61 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 61-4-360.    Notwithstanding another provision of law, a producer who holds a valid certificate of registration issued by the State may:

(1)    import, manufacture, distill, rectify, blend, denature, and store beer with an alcohol content greater than seventeen percent;

(2)    sell beer produced pursuant to item (1) to a wholesaler licensed by the State and transport this beer produced pursuant to item (1) out of state for sale outside of the State;

(3)    purchase beer from licensed sources both inside and outside of the State for blending and manufacturing purposes; and

(4)    permit tasting of the beer produced pursuant to item (1) and offered for retail sale at the onsite-licensed premises and one other offsite-licensed premises owned or leased by the producer."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
