A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE DUTCH FORK HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY GOLF TEAM, OF LEXINGTON COUNTY, FOR A SUCCESSFUL SEASON, AND TO CONGRATULATE THE PLAYERS AND COACHES FOR CLAIMING THE 2008 CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina were pleased to learn that the Dutch Fork High School varsity golf team won the Class AAAA State Championship title on May 6, 2008; and

Whereas, capturing the third title in seven years, the Dutch Fork varsity golf team won the state championship tournament, finishing 897 to 936 against runner-up Gaffney High School; and

Whereas, under the direction of Athletic Director Bill Kimrey, the Dutch Fork golf program and the team members have brought pride to the school and to the community; and

Whereas, the team, led by senior Wesley Bryan, included Anthony Hughes, R.J. Lavigne, Mark Joye, Chuck Moore, David Jeffcoat, Collin Witiak, Carson Joye, Tyler Smith, Tanner Mirt, Will Mason, and Lee Duncan, Jr.; and

Whereas, in a sport that requires skill and strategy, Coaches Mark Giles and Patrick Smallwood used their own athletic ability and experience to forge a championship team and to teach the players lessons for life; and

Whereas, members of the South Carolina House of Representatives commend the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes for garnering the 2008 State Championship Class AAAA title and wait to hear of future successes from this talented team. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Dutch Fork High School varsity golf team, of Lexington County, for a successful season, and congratulate the players and coaches for claiming the 2008 Class AAAA State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Gregg Morton and Coach Mark Giles.
