RE: A Resolution to Impeach the Honorable Marshall C. Sanford, Jr.

As you may already know, Representative Greg Delleney pre-filed a resolution calling for the impeachment of Governor Sanford. This resolution has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
In an effort to ensure a broad and diverse perspective in the committee's review and possible action on this resolution, I am appointing you to an ad hoc subcommittee and referring the resolution to the subcommittee. The core of this subcommittee will be the members of the Constitutional Laws Subcommittee. The remaining members are being appointed so as to ensure racial, gender, and geographic diversity. I originally hoped to make this a nine (9) person subcommittee, but have kept it to seven (7) because of prior, and potentially future, budget cuts.
It is my hope that the full committee can complete its work prior to the end of the year. However, there is no way to accurately predict how long it may take the subcommittee to complete its work. This very preliminary timeframe is being given to you simply to help you plan your schedule for the rest of the year.
I will do my best to keep you advised of the subcommittee's schedule so that you may attend the meetings, if your schedule permits.
