Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the Senate and the House of Representatives shall meet in joint assembly in the Hall of the House of Representatives Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Noon to elect a successor to the Honorable Kaye G. Hearn, Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, Seat 5, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable James C. Williams, Jr., Judge of the Circuit Court for the First Judicial Circuit, Seat 1, to fill the unexpired term that expires June 30, 2010, and the subsequent full term that expires June 30, 2016; to elect a successor to the Honorable G. Thomas Cooper, Jr., Judge of the Circuit Court for the Fifth Judicial Circuit, Seat 3, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable James W. Johnson, Jr., Judge of the Circuit Court for the Eighth Judicial Circuit, Seat 2, to fill the unexpired term that expires June 30, 2012; to elect a successor to the Honorable Roger M. Young, Judge of the Circuit Court for the Ninth Judicial Circuit, Seat 3, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable Carmen Tevis Mullen, Judge of the Circuit Court for the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit, Seat 2, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable Benjamin H. Culbertson, Judge of the Circuit Court for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit, Seat 2, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable John M. Milling, Judge of the Circuit Court, At-Large, Seat 1, to fill the unexpired term that expires June 30, 2009, and the subsequent full term that expires June 30, 2015; to elect a successor to the Honorable R. Markley Dennis, Jr., Judge of the Circuit Court, At-Large, Seat 2, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable Clifton Newman, Judge of the Circuit Court, At-Large, Seat 3, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable Edward W. Miller, Judge of the Circuit Court, At-Large, Seat 4, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable J. Mark Hayes, II, Judge of the Circuit Court, At-Large, Seat 5, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable James E. Lockemy, Judge of the Circuit Court, At-Large, Seat 6, to fill the unexpired term that expires June 30, 2009, and the subsequent full term that expires June 30, 2015; to elect a successor to the Honorable J. Cordell Maddox, Jr., Judge of the Circuit Court, At-Large, Seat 7, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable Kenneth G. Goode, Judge of the Circuit Court, At-Large, Seat 8, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable J. Michelle Childs, Judge of the Circuit Court, At-Large, Seat 9, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable James R. Barber, III, Judge of the Circuit Court, At-Large, Seat 10, whose term expires June 30, 2009; to elect a successor to the Honorable Barry W. Knobel, Judge of the Family Court for the Tenth Judicial Circuit, Seat 1, to fill the unexpired term that expires June 30, 2013; to elect a successor to the Honorable Timothy L. Brown, Judge of the Family Court for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, Seat 6, to fill the unexpired term that expires June 30, 2010, and the subsequent full term that expires June 30, 2016; and to elect a successor to the Honorable John D. Geathers, Judge of the Administrative Law Court, Seat 4, to fill the unexpired term that expires June 30, 2010, and the subsequent full term that expires June 30, 2015.

Be it further resolved that all nominations must be made by the Chairman of the Judicial Merit Selection Commission and that no further nominating or seconding speeches may be made by members of the General Assembly on behalf of any candidate.
