A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE COLTON NATHANIEL ANDERSON OF SUMMERVILLE FOR ACHIEVING THE ELITE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT, COMMEND HIM FOR HIS HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION IN REACHING THIS GOAL, AND WISH HIM EVERY SUCCESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, it is with great pride that the South Carolina House of Representatives recognizes the laudable achievements of young people, and among those youthful accomplishments that command the greatest respect is the attaining of the rank of Eagle Scout; and

Whereas, having proved himself worthy, Colton Nathaniel Anderson, in a ceremony to take place on March 3, 2010, will be named an Eagle Scout, an award granted to only about five percent of all Boy Scouts; and

Whereas, Colton, son of Kimball and Laura Anderson, was born December 6, 1993, in Beaufort and has been a member of Boy Scout Troop 715 since he was twelve years old; and

Whereas, this active young man attends the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is a sophomore at Summerville High School. Gifted musically, Colton plays the tenor and alto saxophone and also enjoys basketball and baseball; and

Whereas, for his Eagle Scout service project, Colton worked with Dorchester Seniors, Inc. on a canned and nonperishable food drive, during which he collected more than seven hundred fifty food items. From these, he made seventy-five nutritious meal kits for homebound seniors and donated an additional four boxes of food products to the senior center's in-house pantry; and

Whereas, in addition, he built, stained, and donated a picnic table for the enjoyment of visitors to the senior center; and

Whereas, the award of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in scouting, is a performance-based achievement whose high standards have been staunchly maintained since its inception in 1912. In attaining this coveted award, Colton joins the ranks of astronauts, movie and sports celebrities, Nobel Prize winners, business and military leaders, Senators and Congressmen, and other elected officials and may be justly proud of his accomplishment. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Colton Nathaniel Anderson of Summerville for achieving the elite rank of Eagle Scout, commend him for his hard work and determination in reaching this goal, and wish him every success in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Colton Nathaniel Anderson.
