VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR HILLCREST HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLER COLIN HORGAN, OF GREENVILLE COUNTY, FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM FOR CAPTURING THE 2010 CLASS AAAA STATE INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were pleased to learn that Colin Horgan took home the 2010 championship trophy in individual competition for the 135-pound division on Saturday, February 27; and
Whereas, while only a freshman, Horgan managed to take home a second-place state trophy in class AAAA and made his fourth appearance at the state individual meet to take first place; and
Whereas, during his four years on the Hillcrest Rams Wrestling team, Horgan went 196 to 49, which set a new school record for career wins and eclipsed his nearest competitor by twenty-three wins; and
Whereas, this season his record was 59 to 7 overall and 37 to 0 in the state, and he placed second at the Southern Slam, third at McCallie in Tennessee, first at the Ram Invitational, third at Woodward's War Eagle Classic, and second at the North Metro Classic in Atlanta; and
Whereas, in a sport that requires mental fortitude and strategy, individual excellence and strength, Colin Horgan grappled his way to victory and maintained a superior position to pin down this trophy; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives acknowledge the pride and recognition that Colin Horgan has brought to his school and community, and they expect to hear of other outstanding accomplishments from this fine young athlete in the future. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Hillcrest High School wrestler Colin Horgan, of Greenville County, for an outstanding season, and congratulate him for capturing the 2010 Class AAAA State Individual Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Colin Horgan.
