VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE C.T. LOWNDES & COMPANY OF MT. PLEASANT UPON THE CELEBRATION, ON MAY 14, 2010, OF ONE HUNDRED SIXTY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that on May 14, 2010, C.T. Lowndes & Company of Mt. Pleasant will celebrate one hundred sixty years of service as a premier South Carolina insurance agency; and
Whereas, founded in Charleston by Charles Tidyman Lowndes in 1850, C.T. Lowndes & Company is the oldest fire-insurance agency in the Southeast; and
Whereas, since the agency first offered fire insurance for South Carolina National Bank mortgages in the mid nineteenth century, it has grown to a full-service agency with seven locations throughout the Lowcountry and one in the Midlands of the Palmetto State; and
Whereas, C.T. Lowndes is a family-owned, family-operated agency and has always been owned by a member of the Lowndes family, the present owners being Henry H. Lowndes, Jr., Willard A. Silcox, Jr., Willard A. Silcox III, and Christopher G. Silcox. In 2012, Edward F. Lowndes III and Rawlins C. Lowndes will become owners, thus assuring that the agency will be owned and operated by a sixth generation of the Lowndes family, as well as a second generation of the Silcox family; and
Whereas, the remarkable longevity of C.T. Lowndes may be accounted for in great measure by close adherence to its founding vision: "Build customer relationships through honesty, integrity, and outstanding service"; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in joining with C.T. Lowndes' many clients, friends, and professional associates to congratulate the company upon reaching this extraordinary milestone, and the members wish the company much continued success in years to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate C.T. Lowndes & Company of Mt. Pleasant upon the celebration, on May 14, 2010, of one hundred sixty years of service to the people of South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to C.T. Lowndes & Company.
