Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Annie Mae Greggs will celebrate her one hundredth birthday on April 25, 2010; and

Whereas, Ms. Greggs was born on April 25, 1910, when the twentieth century was still in its youth, and she has been witness to many of the incredible changes and developments that have come to this nation from that time into the twenty-first century; and

Whereas, a strong supporter of the Plantersville community of Georgetown, where she has lived most of her life, Annie Mae Greggs gardens, cooks for herself, visits the sick, and attends the senior citizens center; and

Whereas, as a caring aunt and friend, she has helped raise several nieces and nephews, as well as other children in the community; and

Whereas, Bethel AME Church is this woman of faith's spiritual home, and she has worshipped her God there for a lifetime, presently being a member of its prayer band; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is proud to honor this truly lovely lady at the celebration of her one hundredth birthday and joins with her legion of friends and well-wishers to congratulate her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Annie Mae Greggs of Georgetown County on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday, and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and continued health and happiness.
