VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF BAYLER JOEL TEAL, OF BISHOPVILLE, AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Baylor Joel Teal of Bishopville on June 24, 2010; and
Whereas, born in Florence, the beloved son of Robert L. and Risha Rhodes Teal lost his two-year battle with cancer after being diagnosed with a severe type of neuroblastoma in September of 2008; and
Whereas, Bayler's story was one of strength, determination, and bravery. For one so young to set such an example in faith and courage is nothing less than awe-inspiring; and
Whereas, with the support of his family and friends, Bayler and the Teal family held strong, surrounded themselves with others in their church, Savannah Advent Christian Church, and never lost their abiding faith in the Lord God Almighty; and
Whereas, he was a special child with a loving nature who loved his horse Two-Bits and was an incredible big brother to Bridges; and
Whereas, an avid University of South Carolina Gamecock fan, Bayler was able to throw out the first pitch at a Gamecock baseball game in March and was visited by members of the team who recognized this terrific kid for the inspiration that he was to so many; and
Whereas, Bayler so touched the hearts of the Gamecock baseball team that many of the players have written the initials "BT" on their caps in loving memory of the seven-year-old Bishopville fan and the team and Coach Ray Tanner have dedicated their participation in the 2010 College World Series to him; and
Whereas, not only the Gamecock baseball team but the community as a whole came together to hold fundraisers, support the Teal family, and to lift up their voices in prayer for them; and
Whereas, Bayler's faith in God was as deep as anybody's he had ever seen according to Reverend Ryan Riley who also said that Bayler was his hero and when you stood in his presence you knew Jesus was there; and
Whereas, in addition to his parents and brother, Bayler is survived by maternal grandparents, Larry and Sandy Matuse, Ricky and Della Rhodes; paternal grandparents, Ronald and Daphne Teal; and maternal great-grandmother, Virginia Rhodes; and
Whereas, the battle fought, the war won, Bayler Teal has received his ultimate reward, and his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of his family, church members, friends, community, and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Bayler Joel Teal, and extend their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Bayler Joel Teal.
