VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 7-1-110 SO AS TO REQUIRE A PERSON PUBLICLY ELECTED TO AN OFFICE TO SERVE AT LEAST FIFTY PERCENT OF THE TERM FOR WHICH HE WAS ELECTED BEFORE HE IS ELIGIBLE TO OFFER FOR ANOTHER ELECTED OFFICE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Title 7 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 7-1-110. A person publicly elected to an office shall serve at least fifty percent of the term for which he was elected before he is eligible to offer for another elected office."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
