TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 1-3-125 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT WHILE THE GOVERNOR IS PHYSICALLY ABSENT FROM THE STATE, ALL OF THE POWERS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE GOVERNOR UNDER THE LAWS OF THIS STATE ARE DEVOLVED UPON THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR FOR THE DURATION OF THE TIME THE GOVERNOR IS PHYSICALLY ABSENT FROM THE STATE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 3, Chapter 3, Title 1 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 1-3-125. While the Governor is physically absent from the State, all of the powers, duties, and responsibilities of the Governor under the laws of this State are devolved upon the Lieutenant Governor for the duration of the time the Governor is physically absent from the State."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
