TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 44-7-355 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A PROPERLY TRAINED COMMUNITY RESIDENTIAL CARE FACILITY STAFF MEMBER MAY ADMINISTER INJECTIONS OF MEDICATIONS FOR DIABETES, OSTEOPOROSIS, AND CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH ANAPHYLACTIC REACTIONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 3, Chapter 7, Title 44 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 44-7-355. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a community residential care facility staff member who has been trained to administer injections of medication may only administer an injection under established medical protocol to a facility resident for medication required for diabetes, osteoporosis, and conditions associated with anaphylactic reactions."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
