A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON THE PASSING OF FAIR H. SMITH OF CHARLOTTE, FORMERLY OF BISHOPVILLE, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Fair H. Smith of Charlotte, formerly of Bishopville, on February 17, 2010, at the venerable age of eighty-seven; and

Whereas, a native of Mullins in Marion County, Fair H. Smith was born May 28, 1922, to Maxcy and Dora Harrelson; and

Whereas, after decades of dedicated service, she retired from her career as a home economics teacher at Ashwood-Central High School; and

Whereas, preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyburn Smith, she leaves to cherish her memory son Chip Smith; daughter Page Gupton; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Fair H. Smith of Charlotte, formerly of Bishopville, and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Chip Smith for the family.
