A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MR. HENRY HARRISON OF GREENVILLE ON THE OCCASION OF HIS EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, the members of the Senate are delighted to learn that Mr. Henry Clyde Harrison, Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina will celebrate his eightieth birthday on February 21, 2012; and

Whereas, Mr. Harrison is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of American Services, Inc. For thirty-five years his company has grown into a full-service contract services provider providing security services, staffing services, commercial janitorial services, and private investigative services; and

Whereas, Mr. Harrison served with the South Carolina Highway Patrol from 1954-1974 and was named State Trooper of the Year in 1967. Mr. Harrison continues to work with and maintain a close relationship with law enforcement throughout the State of South Carolina and nationally; and

Whereas, he is a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Association, the South Carolina Sheriff's Association, and the South Carolina Troopers Association; and

Whereas, as a member of the Tri-County Technical Foundation Board, Mr. Harrison was recently honored by the school and various community members with the naming of the Henry C. Harrison Criminal Justice program, which results in a two-year associates degree; and

Whereas, he is also the recipient of the Order of the Palmetto awarded to him by South Carolina Governor David Beasley for his work and contributions to our State; and

Whereas, in September 2010, Mr. Harrison was honored as Entrepreneur of the Year by the Greenville Tech Foundation in recognition of being one of Greenville's leading entrepreneurs; and

Whereas, in September 2011, Mr. Harrison was honored by the Greenville Hospital System Children's Hospital with the "All For the Love of Children" award for his contributions and support toward children's issues; and

Whereas, his involvement with the GHS Safe Kids Upstate program has been instrumental in expanding safety education and program development into the Oconee and Pickens County areas with specific focus on preventing unintentional childhood injuries; and

Whereas, his professional and community involvement also comprises of holding positions on many boards including Chairman of the Board for the Greenville Memorial Auditorium, Advisory Boards for Summit Bank and Union Bank, Customized Companion Care Board, Herlong-Bates Insurance, Pacific Gateway Capital Group, LLC, and more. He is a member of the American Legion (Post 3), Blue Ridge Electric Co-Op, and Urban League; and

Whereas, at American Service, Inc., Mr. Harrison also instills the values of giving back to the community. It is simply "company policy" to support local, state, and national organizations, a few of which include the Boys Home of the South, Boy Scouts of America, Children's Wish Foundation, American Heart Association, United Way, the Cancer Society of Greenville County, and many more; and

Whereas, Mr. Harrison is the proud father of four children, eight grandchildren with one on the way, and four great-grandchildren with another on the way. He has also been a loving partner of seventeen years to Ms. Tracy D. Lamb; and

Whereas, American Services, Inc. is proud to have Henry Harrison as its founder, leader, Chairman of the Board, and Chief Executive Officer. It is leadership like his that encourages his employees to excel in service to clients. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. Henry Harrison on the occasion of his eightieth birthday and wish him continued health and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Henry Harrison.
