A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR JAMES MANLEY, JR., SHAREHOLDER WITH THE TAX, ASSURANCE, AND CONSULTING SERVICES FIRM ELLIOTT DAVIS, LLC, WHERE HE HEADS ITS GREENWOOD OFFICE'S ACCOUNTING RESOURCES PRACTICE, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM UPON BEING NAMED THE 2012 SOUTH CAROLINA FINANCIAL SERVICES CHAMPION BY THE SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION.

Whereas, the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina are pleased to learn that James Manley, Jr., has been named the 2012 South Carolina Financial Services Champion by the Small Business Administration; and

Whereas, as a certified public accountant, he focuses his work at Elliott Davis on small businesses, which the firm refers to as closely-held businesses, which range from manufacturing firms to restaurants and even include home-based businesses; and

Whereas, he provides tax, assurance, and business-consulting solutions, all of which enable him to assist clients with tax returns, audits, and reviews while dealing with their most basic business questions; and

Whereas, with offices over four Southeastern states and some four hundred employees, Elliott Davis has about fifty shareholders; and

Whereas, Mr. Manley started with the firm in 1993 as an intern and became a full-time employee after receiving his master's in accounting; he now serves as a shareholder on the firm's closely-held business and accounting resource practices committees; and

Whereas, the United States Small Business Administration, created in 1953 to aid, counsel, assist, and protect small businesses and to preserve free, competitive enterprise, annually presents the Financial Services Champion award to an individual who works to increase the usefulness or availability of accounting or financial services to small business owners; and

Whereas, Mr. Manley's selection as the 2012 South Carolina Financial Services Champion was based on his efforts to keep an open line of communication with those he serves and on his complete dedication to serving his clients and helping them meet their comprehensive financial needs and goals; and

Whereas, realizing the excellence of James Manley's example to others who serve our fine State in the field of financial services, the members of the South Carolina Senate take great pleasure in honoring him for winning the prestigious Financial Services Champion award for 2012 and wish him continued fulfillment as one of our state's leading financial-services providers for small businesses. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor James Manley, Jr., shareholder with the tax, assurance, and consulting services firm Elliott Davis, LLC, where he heads its Greenwood office's accounting resources practice, and congratulate him upon being named the 2012 Financial Services Champion by the Small Business Administration.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to James Manley, Jr.
